Re: Pedal steel players meeting Sep9th

Hmmm, collective noun for a group of steel players?
A "drift" of steelies?
Howard Tibble used to call B.J. Cole's musical contributions "wembling." A "wemble" of steelies?
A "pitch-shift" of steelies?
A "bar" of steelies?

Re: Tonight in London: Hootenanny and my lap steel debut

Lol Lo&m; u sure they're not educating you? I'm constantly being taught stuff by young musicians: best not to mention it but I get paid for theoretically teaching them while they actually teach me. One of the most important things they've taught me is that genre is meaningless to their generation. F...

Tonight in London: Hootenanny and my lap steel debut

Tonight is my regular monthly Hootenanny at The Bull & Gate, Kentish Town, London. There are two reasons I'm posting this here: firstly there is a young man coming along to sing "Lovesick Blues" by Hank Williams. The torch is indeed being passed down, and as I've mentioned before in this forum there...

Re: Is UK Country Music Dead Part 2,345,365: gig tonight.

Hi, no it's not the band. It's an evening of live music run by Josh Stone (son of the wonderful Lord Alfred Telecom.)
Some of the acts on my label do it regularly.
There is so much live music going on in London it's hard to keep track of it all!

Is UK Country Music Dead Part 2,345,365: gig tonight.

A 20-year-old artist on my label (the fabulous George Frakes, go to www.dammitmusic.com and look in the Artists section) just told me he's playing tonight at Powers Bar in kilburn (www.powersbar.co.uk/) at a gig celebrating the music of Hank Williams. I'll be putting a guitar in the car and maybe jo...

Yes, I know of her through Andy Saphir, a fine guitarist who works with her. Did she come up through the UK CMCs?

True... I sometimes form a human shield for the guy who sings and plays piano in a function band I work with.

David, I'm also slightly concerned about the finish on that guitar: I could see no evidence of stains left by beer, whisky, blood, sweat, tears or an inappropriate reaction to a Brad Paisley solo. Guitars need feeding with all the above. There are also no chips, scratches, knocks or blemishes of any...

John, not me. We worked on ADATs for Bill's Cd. ADAT... Best bang-per-buck dig recorder pre-computers: I had 3 and the remote tablet.
