A new thread to discuss what you consider to be a classic country album.
One person's classic will be another person's dudd. It is down to personal taste.

To kick off this thread, an album that reached #1 on the country charts 31 years ago today.

"Storms of Life" was the debut album by Randy Travis.
The album became iconic for heralding a fresh, traditional country sound in a Nashville at the time dominated by country-pop sensebilities.

The album still sounds good today & way more country than even the stuff country traditionalists are putting out today!
Chris Stapleton is today being heralded as a hero of tradional country, but listen to either of his 2 albums and put them up against this one by Randy Travis, and there is no contest. Next to Randy, Stapleton sounds like a rock pretender to the throne.

So here is a thoroughly old school country album, tradional country instrumentation and vocals, tastefully understated vocals, and some pretty good songs.

Haul this one out & have a listen!
Cor Blimey, Guv'nor! 8)
