Name the Series/ Show

OK, let us revive the games thing here with a different sort of game. This one involves a person laying out the scenario of a TV series or show & the task is for other posters to identify it.
The person who correctly identifies the series/ show gets to set a new puzzle.

I'll kick off this thread with this one:

There is a town in America in which all the people are characters from fairy tales, only they don't know it. Only one kid in the town knows the truth & only one person can save the town from the spell cast on it.
The series alternates between the same characters in their Fairy-tale lives & in their lives in this modern day American town.

No, not that one.
The boy who is the only one to know the truth tracks down his birth mother & brings him to the town because she is the only one who can break the spell.

A US show in which the lead actor is a Brit who has apparently mastered the Georgia accent. He says, "Corrll" a lot which may be enough to give you it. :D Several other Brit actors have appeared in it including the main antagonist. If that's not enough, it's set in a post-apocalyptic world and despite a few logic gaps is still a gripping series.

Mm, I was thinking "Nashville", which has that Cornish lad playing an American.
Post-acopolyptic? The series seems to be going there right now!

No, I've lost track of Nashville. Missed a few episodes around #13 or #14. 4 on demand have deleted them so if I catch up I'll have missed a huge chunk of the story. Besides, they won't let me watch it without cancelling adblock. Tried watching it on youtube but the tv sites either attack my computer or want me to download some dodgy add-on first.

However, back to the point. The mystery tv show features a small group of people trying to survive amid a population of zombies and bandits.

OK, an easy one

The everyday life of country Music Folk. Rivalry, booze, drugs, mental illness. An evil record label boss, an unstable starlet & a divorced country Diva whose daughters might soon be making hit records, but one of whome has already outed herself as the lovechild of the Diva's former lover, an alcoholic songwriter & guitarist!

Easy as Janie Fricke. It is, of course, Nashville. This should be as easy.
An iconic series of live music performance back in the days when such things were as rare as pork in Jerusalem. Introduced with a harmonica theme track and fronted by a veteran pesenter who's style has been the subject of countless bad impressions. It provided us with the first sighting of many famous but unavailable names and unkown names that we only knew from album covers. A valuable cultural marker, it is mimic'd today by Jools Holland's Later.

Has to be The old Grey Whistle Test?
I always remember the jivin' cartoon character in the intro. Made up of stars, I seem to recall! Bob featured a fair bit of country on those shows, too- I recall Emmylou Harris on & Dr Hook & the Medicine Show.

Correct. Apparently the jivin' cartoon character is known as The Star Kicker. Something I found out recently despite having watched OGWT for years.

ha ha. I never knew that.
Thev OGWT was in the pre Music Videos age, so when they played tracks (rather than a 'live' band) they matched the music to clips from old movies. Usually trains, I seem to recall. I recall they had Johnny Cash's "25 Minutes To Go" matched with a cartoon illustrating the story of the song.

Staying with music shows, a bit of a twist. This was a US 'live' music series named after a Texas city where the show was recorded. From the account I have heard, only one show that was recorded for the series was NOT aired on TV. It was, many years later, released on DVD. There was nothing shocking or salacious about the act, the only reason I can think of for it not being aired was that it may have stepped on some religious sensebilities.
Can you name the TV series & can you name the singer-songwriter whose performance was NOT broadcast?
